Bilima Turtle
I am honoured to say, “Bilima” was a finalist in the National Contemporary Art Prize 2024:
Acrylic on stretched mounted canvas.
100cm x 76 cm
Oak floating frame included.
My painting titled Bilima is the Dhurga word of the Yuin Nation meaning turtle. The turtle represents longevity, stability and connection to the land and water. The background shows many earthy tones reflecting the natural environment. The composition reflects a deep spiritual connection to the land and the Turtle’s role within our ecosystem, celebrating the rich heritage and story telling of Aboriginal culture.
